What would WQJJ mean to you and to your business? One of the requirements the FCC established in the guidelines under which WQJJ exists is that the station would have to be a non commercial, not-for-profit organization. This means that all funding must come in the form of grants, donors, and sponsors rather than 'commercial advertising'. Interestingly, the distinction between sponsorship and advertising is indeed very subtle. The primary difference is that a non-commercial station cannot broadcast advertisements that feature a 'call to action'. However, just about anything else is fair game. Although you cannot tell the radio listeners to "rush on down to Joe's Hardware today as they are having a sale on electric drills", you can tell them that "this broadcast was funded by Joe's Hardware". You can tell the listeners that "Joe's is located at 202 Main Street and that they have a great line of electric drills, along with 20 years of hardware experience to help you understand how to use any drill you might purchase at Joe's". You can also tell the listeners that "Joe's telephone number is 555-8888" so long as you don't tell the listeners to "be sure to call, today!" Probably what is most important from your point of view is that the cost of sponsorship (which really you could view as advertising) will be substantially less than that of existing commercial radio or print advertising anywhere in the region! The two factors that work in our favor are:
Even more importantly, your sponsorship will help to create and maintain one of the most significant additions to the cultural climate of Jasper. Also, by offering a tax-deductible (please consult with your accountant first!) contribution to this worthy endeavor you will also be receiving recognition on air for your contribution. The result of this recognition is to generate both good will and high public opinion towards your business while at the same time educating the local population about you and your business. More importantly, you can feel good about yourself for helping a very worthy and important endeavor that benefits our town and surrounding communities. By helping WQJJ 100.1 Fox-FM, Jasper's ONLY FM radio station, you will be helping your hometown as well as helping yourself. We encourage you to do what so many successful large corporations have learned. It pays to support not-for-profit radio in your town. This is really a win-win situation for you, your business and WQJJ 100.1 Fox-FM. |
